New Multi Family Project
Kamalanai is a 150 unit condominium project in the heart of Kailua. The project was inspired by the active, healthy and green lifestyle of Kailua.
The project has three large green courtyards created by tucking the parking below the three floors of living units. This green space opens up to the Kalua community park across the street and connects to the nearby shopping and amenities, all within walking distance. The units are large and gracious with large lanais.
For this developer this construction type was a first. Accustomed to stick framed two story homes and townhomes this project has a concrete podium with metal framed walls and poured concrete on metal decking floors and roofs. As land becomes scarcer on the Island of Oahu this type of density and construction will become more and more prevalent.
Clients Vision / Project Challenges:
The challenge for this project was to create a fairly large structure that fits into the low-rise residential character of Kailua.
